Care and Comfort

The care and comfort committee was formed to help people who are in need due to a medical issue, recent death in the family, or struggling in some other way.  This group helps with preparing meals, organizing Shiva services, and more to meet the needs of our community.

Beth El Bikers

Whether a short street ride or a long trail ride, someone is bound to want to join you on your journey. Get to know other bicycle enthusiast in the area.  There are some planned rides each year that the goup enjoys together.

Beth El Book Club

Our book club meets monthly to discuss books with Jewish themes, or Authors, selected by various members of the club. Currently on a short break, but always looking for new members and leaders.

Dessert Club

A spin off of our high school Supper Club program, this program is designed to engage young adults in connecting with Judaism.  We will explore current events with a Jewish twist, and revisit old favorites to find out what they didn't teach us in Hebrew School.  This program is a great way to keep our students connected as they go away to college, or as they join us for the first time coming to our local universities.

Choir

Join our choir and sing with us.  Our choir is a vital part of our High Holiday services as well as other services throughout the year.

Mount Desert Island Group

This group is available to all full time and part time residents of MDI. Often they have Shabbat dinners, Havdalah services and a special lecture series with the Rabbi on the Island each summer.

Congregation Beth El is a Reform Jewish Congregation whose purpose is to strive to create a welcoming, spiritually, socially, and geographically diverse community where members can explore and express Jewish religious beliefs and/or their own relationship to God; learn together; seek social, family, and cultural ties; and/or participate in social activism.
