Shabbat Service with Cantor Sheila Nesis

We look forward to having Cantor Sheila Nesis lead Shabbat Service at Beth El on November 14 (and then again on December 12)! 

Cantor Nesis currently serves as Cantor in Residence at Etz Chaim Synagogue in Portland and as the creator and educator of the Shlichei Tzibur program of the Center for Small Town Jewish Life in Waterville. She previously served progressive congregations in Denver, Colorado; Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona; New York City; and her hometown, Buenos Aires, Argentina. She has also sung in synagogues across the U.S.; been featured at Union for Reform Judaism Biennials; and released an album (Menucha) of original compositions that bring together elements from Latin American, Israeli, Ladino and Middle Eastern music. 

She was inspired and trained by Rabbi Sergio Bergman and Fundación Judaica, and learned the art of chazanut from her sephardic mentor Rabbi Silvina Chemen, both in Buenos Aires. She also studied with renowned voice coaches there and in New York City.
